This Microclass examines the key factors of network planning and airline scheduling. Hubbing issues are investigated with consideration of constraints and challenges to network efficiencies and operations. The evaluation of new routes is explored. The implications of various aircraft, frequency, schedule, and route choices are addressed within the context of network optimisation. In consequence, you will learn to critically evaluate the different aspects of network planning, especially in regard to hub development within the setting of overall airline operations. Various modelling applications in relation to different airline operations will be explained. Finally, we will discuss how to use flight planning efficiently to optimise an airport as an air transport hub.
By the end of this Microclass, candidates will have the ability to apply marketing concepts effectively in the ever-evolving airline industry. They will be equipped with an insightful and comprehensive understanding of the marketing mix through an aviation lens. Moreover, the course also explores the best marketing strategies currently being employed in a hyper-competitive aviation market.

His portfolio includes Emirates, British Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, Qantas, easyJet, Jet2, Eurowings amongst others, and he served as CCO for SATA Group where he had brought new thinking to two airlines and managed their networks, ancillary revenue, sales, marketing & brand/strategy development. He is a Senior Advisor to the Government of Portugal and was instrumental in bringing over 200 new routes through four airports. Being a Professor of Aviation and Tourism Management, Gavin is dedicated to continuously imparting practical solutions through his acadustry®-based mentorship, with specialisation in commercials.
