This Microclass is tailored towards individuals with direct involvement in air service development and will explain how to combine incentive offers with compelling campaigns in order to secure a competitive advantage for route forecasting and development. In particular, we will look at how airports and airlines can work closer together to build route development cases, and, ensure successful new air services for the region. Building on cases and exercises, participants will explore how to work a route development case, and, show the value of a route to the airport, community, and wider stakeholder community accordingly. We will also touch on the legal challenges with building and supporting route development.
This Microclass will start from Sat 4th May and will conclude on 26th May 2024. Classes will be conducted on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) across 8 Slots of 3- hour each, as per the program schedule.
This Microclass will allow participants to learn the techniques for both estimating and understanding markets and travel patterns; in order to identify new route opportunities and to create airline business cases for new or improved routes.

Candidates who have successfully completed this Microclass will be awarded with a Certificate of Completion by Aviationia, Atlântica and Shervi Aviationia as well as a Certificate of Specialisation from Atlântica University.
Gavin Eccles is the Head of Executive Education and a C-level coach at Aviationia. Having nearly 30 years of experience in aviation across academia, industry and government entities with a focus on managing commercial links between airlines, airports and tourism boards, Gavin has been holding leadership positions and delivering tailored consultancy across the globe. His portfolio includes Emirates, British Airways, American Airlines, United Airlines, Qantas, easyJet, Jet2, Eurowings amongst others, and he served as CCO for SATA Group where he had brought new thinking to two airlines and managed their networks, ancillary revenue, sales, marketing & brand/strategy development. He is a Senior Advisor to the Government of Portugal and was instrumental in bringing over 200 new routes through four airports. Being a Professor of Aviation and Tourism Management, Gavin is dedicated to continuously imparting practical solutions through his acadustry®-based mentorship, with specialisation in commercials.
